The Star of Indiana Drum and Bugle Corps was a Division I drum and bugle corps based out of Bloomington, Indiana and was a member of Drum Corps International. Organized by Cook Group and founded by William Cook, it was a competitive corps from 1985 to 1993. Star of Indiana was one of the corps associated with the period's rise of midwestern corps, such as the Cavaliers and Phantom Regiment, to the tops of the ranks. Star of Indiana made finals the first year of its existence and every year thereafter, an accomplishment unmatched by any other corps founded at the same time or since.

Star of Indiana was the DCI champion in 1991. In addition, the corps placed second once (1993), and third twice (1990 and 1992).

After the 1993 season (2nd place with a 97.3), they left the competitive marching circuit. They performed a ten-city tour of Brass Theater along with the Canadian Brass in the summer of 1994. In 1995 and 1996, Star refined Brass Theater with The Canadian Brass in Brass Theatre II and III. Brass Theater's 1994 tour was highlighted by a sold-out performance at Avery Fisher Hall at Lincoln Center, as the 1995 tour included sold-out or near sold-out performances at Wolf Trap, Ravinia, Tanglewood, Hollywood Bowl, Blossom Music Center, and Lincoln Center. Brass Theater conductors included Indiana University School of Music's Ray Cramer and Leonard Bernstein-protégés Kenneth Schermerhorn and Eiji Oue.

Following Brass Theater they formed the Tony and Emmy Award-Winning Broadway show Blast!, a marching production on a theater stage rather than a football field. See the article on Blast! for Star of Indiana's history after it left the drum and bugle corps activity.

Star of Indiana returned at the 2010 DCI World Championships performing a medley of their 1985 - 1993 field shows with their alumni corps, Star Alumni Corps.[1][2][3] The group performed in Indianapolis on August 11, 2010 during the DCI Championships week and at Lucas Oil Stadium between the last corps performing and the retreat at the DCI Semi Finals on August 13. A DVD will be made by a professional company hired by Star Alumni Corps.[4]
